Tarlac State University's National Women's Month celebration commenced today (March 12) during the flag-raising ceremony at the Main Campus.
The Office of Gender and Development (GAD) conducted simultaneous short programs at the Main, Lucinda, and San Isidro campuses themed "Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas; Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, patutunayan!"
“'Hindi ka babae lang, babae ka.' This powerful sentence should be put in mind by all, and we should ensure inclusion, protection, diversity, and social justice for all and for everybody. The [inclusion] of others will lead us to a healthier and safer society," TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco said.
Meanwhile, GAD Director Dr. Rita E. Pulmano echoed Pres. Velasco's statement.
“Kagaya po ng sinabi ng ating president, panatilihin po natin ang pagpapalaganap ng isang patas na lipunan sa ating komunidad. Palaganapin po natin ang pagrespeto sa karapatan ng bawat isa sa atin,” she said.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg called upon the TSU community to continue recognizing and empowering women to attain its collective vision and the country's vision.
Students from the College of Business and Accountancy prepared an intermission number to entertain the flag-raising attendees at the Main Campus.
The GAD distributed free breakfast meals and organized a Women's Month March on all three campuses in partnership with the TSU Supreme Student Council.
Meanwhile, the BSEd Sciences and the Mechatronics Technology program hosted the flag-raising ceremonies at the Lucinda and San Isidro campuses. (jlmm-OPA)
