The College of Business and Accountancy’s Junior Financial Executives paid a courtesy visit to Pres. Arnold E. Velasco this morning (July 5) to present the awards received during the JCFAP Awards 2024.
The TSU-JFINEX bagged national awards, namely the Top 1 Best Local Finance Organization and Top 1 National Helping Hand Award, which were bestowed by the Junior Confederation of Finance Associations-Philippines Awards 2024 last June 23, 2024 at the Citystate Tower Hotel in Manila.
The National Helping Hand Award measures the exemplary efforts of an organization in serving the community through outreach projects centered on financial literacy, creating a positive impact in the community through financial literacy.
Among the student extension activities of JFINEX are book donations to the marginalized sector in Brgy. Gayong-Gayong in Mayantoc town and a feeding program and financial literacy lectures and seminars for students of Padapada National High School in Santa Ignacia town, San Manuel High School, and Don Casimiro G. Tañedo Integrated School in Victoria town.
The organization also placed third under the Innovative Award with their Financial Literacy Awareness Project (FLAP), organized by the fourth-year students through the help of corporate partners. FLAP offers six sessions of seminar workshops to students and the community.
This recognition features the organization’s ability to think and create innovative ideas and projects that are non-academic and unique events.
Some TSU-JFINEX members are also involved in the college’s extension programs, where they can acquire skills they can eventually share with the communities they are planning to visit.
“Their hard work paid off. 'Yung heart nila and dedication, passion to serve ay iba. Out-of-the-box kasi sila kung mag-isip ng activities and ako bilang adviser na-amaze ako. At the same time napapasisip ako, kung kaya ba nilang i-execute ito kasi parang very ideal yung gusto nilang mangyari at nabibigla na lang ako kasi nagagawa nila," TSU-JFINEX adviser Prof. Christine Janelle Santiago said in an interview.\
"Siguro 'yung secret ng JFINEX sa success nila ay 'yung heart, passion, commitment at yung samahan nila,” she added.
Prof. Santiago, also the CBA extension head, said she taps all student organization presidents of their college to participate and support the TSU-JFINEX's outreach projects by donating cash or in kind, like books and school supplies, for their beneficiaries.
According to Prof. Santiago, CBA Dean Dr. Jhonel Panlilio's "unwavering and unmatched" support for the organization is also one of the reasons for their various awards.
Apart from group awards, TSU-JFINEX Executive President Lilyana Cunanan was named the Top 2 Outstanding Finance Student Leader in the country.
Cunanan, an incoming fourth-year financial management student, will serve as the JCFAP in Central Luzon Regional President.
“Unexpected po kasi ang dami pong nominees. Sinabi ko nga po kanila ma'am (Prof. Santiago) na baka hindi ko po makuha yung award. Nakita ko rin po kasi na nandoon po 'yung (organization) president po ng PUP at 15 po kaming finalists,” Cunanan said.
TSU-JFINEX also received the Outstanding College-based Organization and Membership Development Award, with Cunanan's recognition as Outstanding Student Leader in the student organization category, during the Araw ng Parangal 2024 of the university's Office of Student Affairs and Services last June 7.
The group was also presented with the Hall of Fame Award after receiving the outstanding college-based organization recognition for six years. (jlmm-OPA)
