Representatives from Bataan Peninsula State University visited Tarlac State University for a benchmarking activity focused on the best practices of the College of Science today (May 7) at the Main AVR.

BPSU College of Technology and College of Arts and Sciences delegates led by Dr. Rowena B. Valerio and Dr. Ma. Cristina S. Alba studied the histories and curricula of the university's food technology, environmental science, and mathematics programs under COS.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg welcomed the group and hoped both institutions would learn from the activity.

"We always believe that benchmarking is a two-way process – you will be learning from us and, at the same time, we believe that we will also be learning from you…We believe that this activity is a way of testing that somehow the university is not just growing in number, but it is also developing as well in terms of its programs, facilities, and best practices," VP Macaraeg said.

Moreover, VP Macaraeg, COS Dean Prof. Mary Jane N. Rigor, and department chairpersons answered the visitors' queries during the open forum concerning the requirements for the application of new program offerings, as well as the laboratories, facilities, number of students, and faculty qualifications required.

According to Dr. Alba, BPSU plans to add more programs under the two colleges.

After the open forum, BPSU officials and faculty members visited some laboratories and facilities of the COS building and the Center for Food Technology and Research at the Lucinda Campus. (jlmm-OPA)
