Tarlac State University was featured at the Liberty Campus Tour earlier today, February 19, organized by the DOST-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) together with the Benita & Catalino Yap Foundation (BCYF) in celebration of Innovation Month.
Themed “Reinvigorating the Philippine Economy through Innovation,” the celebration emphasizes the diverse cooperation among various economic sectors and institutions in the country.
TSU, through the through the Extension Services Management Office (ESMO) and Food Technology and Research Center (FTRC), showcased the Extension-Led Research and Development Model (E-Led R&D) – an integrated approach for a more holistic and community-driven service to address the technical capacity and technology gaps of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Together with TSU, DOST-PCIEERD Executive Director Dr. Enrico C. Paringit also presented their agency’s Human Resource and Technology Transfer as well as their other programs and initiatives.
Other key personalities present during the virtual event are BCYF Founder and Chairman Mr. Antonio Yap, BCYF Chair for Innovation Month Sen. Teofisto Guingona III, and DOST Secretary Prof. Fortunato Dela Peña.
Meanwhile, TSU was represented by Vice President for Research and Extension Services Dr. Armee N. Rosel, FTRC Director and ESMO OIC Director Dr. Lea B. Milan, and ESMO Unit Head Mr. Aljon Lusung.
The event was held via Zoom and broadcasted live on Facebook.
The Innovation Month is an annual week-long celebration by DOST-PCIEERD and BCYF. This year, from February 12-19, the campus tour also featured three other universities: Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology, Batangas State University, and Bataan Peninsula State University.
