The Tarlac State University-Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committee, through the Facilities Development and Management Office and Pollution Control and Safety Unit, led the inspection and clearing operations of the different campuses within Tarlac City today, September 26, in line with Typhoon Karding's aftermath.
The university's vice presidents, Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg, Dr. Grace N. Rosete, and Dr. Murphy P. Mohammed, visited the campuses with FDMO director Ar. Cherry Fabianes and university safety officer Prof. Federico Estrada Jr. to check and address the hazards, risks, and damages in the university's infrastructure, facilities, and equipment. There were no reported major damages among the Tarlac City campuses.
Moreover, TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco called for a meeting with the university's executives this afternoon to discuss the output of inspections and its implications for the resumption of classes.
"With the damages all around the Tarlac Province due to Typhoon Karding, including power outage leading to limited internet connectivity, it is proper to suspend classes tomorrow (September 27) in consideration of the varying situations of students and faculty members," Pres. Velasco said.
In a separate message, VP Macaraeg said the students could use this time to help their respective families in their clearing operations at home.
Pres. Velasco and VP Rosete also called on the non-teaching personnel to support the continuation of FDMO’s clearing operations, prompting the resumption of office work tomorrow (September 27).
With today's clearing ops, Ar. Fabianes has given the assurance that it is safe for employees to go back to work tomorrow.
