Tarlac State University’s Gender and Development (GAD) Office awarded GADTimpala plaques to female officials of the university during the university’s flag raising and commencement ceremony of the 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) at the Main Campus on March 15, 2022.
The GADTimpala or the Gender and Development Transformation and Institutionalization through Mainstreaming of Programs, Agenda, Linkages, and Advocacies is awarded in recognition of their efforts in pursuing gender equality and women empowerment in the university. This is the first time that such award was granted in the university.
The awardees include University President Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari; Vice President for Research and Extension Services Dr. Armee N. Rosel; college deans Dr. Brendalyn A. Manzano, Dr. Miriam S. Galvez, and Prof. Mary Jane N. Rigor; directors Dr. Heidilyn V. Gamido, Ms. Jazzel Llaneli M. Manabat, Dr. Theda Flare G. Quilala, Dr. Lea B. Milan, Ms. Winniefe Gutierrez, and Ms. Cynthia M. Bognot; and Supreme Student Council (SSC) President Hon. Mikaela B. Laxamana, among others.
Themed “We Make Change Work for Women – Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran,” this month-long activity is a celebration of women exercising their choices, taking chances to make their voices heard, and benefitting from and trailblazing changes.
In her message, Pres. Mallari expressed that this celebration is all about equality.
“Gone are those days – a long time ago that we see men as masculine, and we see women as weak. Wala na iyan – even among leaders in various countries... Women are celebrated all over the world now, because we recognize the strength and empowerment of women. But, we do not diminish the respect for men, because we are all equal in the eyes of the Lord,” Pres. Mallari said.
Moreover, the GAD is collaborating with the SSC in organizing this year’s NWMC virtual activities to involve the participation of TSU students through webinars and online contents.
