Bachelor of Science in Mathematics
The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics is a four-year degree program that offers students a background regarding mathematical modeling, scientific computing and various modern applications of mathematics. This program introduces the application of pure mathematics to applied mathematics in the real world. The program is also designed to expose students to different mathematical applications such as statistics, operations research, the proper use of problem-solving approaches to investigate and understand mathematical content and analyze mathematical statements to be able to construct solutions and proofs. These applications are being introduced in this program to prepare students for future careers that require critical and analytical thinking skills.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
1.Equip the students with enhanced mathematical and critical thinking skills;
2.Develop deeper appreciation and understanding of the importance of mathematics in history and modern world;
3.Help students do research or perform jobs that require analytical thinking and quantitative skills; and
4.Help prepare graduates to pursue higher studies or work in a variety of fields.

THE NUMERATES ORGANIZATION
The Numerates is an organization of the Department of Mathematics under the College of Science. All students of the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program will automatically be members of this community.
This organization aims to serve its members (Numeratians) by conducting seminars/lectures and educational activities that will unite the students, help them improve their communication and social skills, discover their inner talents, produce more leaders and further enhance their leadership skills, and provide them more awareness to other mathematics-related activities. Generally, the organization seeks to promote and uphold the welfare of its members, the department, and the College.
CAREERS AND JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of BS Mathematics may pursue a career path in the educational field, financial institutions, business companies, or government agencies. Although this program was re-opened at Tarlac State University in SY 2013 – 2014, the Department of Mathematics has already established partnerships with various companies that accommodate the BS Mathematics students in their on-the-job training or internship. There are numerous professions and employment options that await the BS Mathematics graduates, which many of us are unaware of. Most professionals who graduated with this program, particularly those who have advanced their level of degree—from a bachelor’s degree, a master's degree, up until a doctorate degree—benefit from respectable and lucrative wage opportunities. Compared to earlier years, mathematicians now have more job opportunities. Additionally, there are various job prospects in various industries, whether they are run by the government, the private sector, or both. However, each person's fate is still determined by their own will and determination.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES - RECENT
Freshmen Orientation. On August 30, 2022, faculty members of the Department of Mathematics conducted an Online Freshmen Orientation for the BS Mathematics students.
Meet and Greet. On October 19, 2022, BS Mathematics students participated in the meet-and-greet event that was hosted by The Numerates as part of their Foundation Week celebration at COS Room 301. Participants were tested on their determination and cooperation as they joined in various minigames designed to develop camaraderie among the freshmen to senior BS Mathematics students.
Love Month. On February 14, 2023, the BS Mathematics students celebrated "Valentine's Day" together, which was organized by The Numerates, to maintain student engagement activities and inspire all program participants to work together and communicate during this love month.
Seminar in Mathematics Research. On February 15–16, 2023, in collaboration with the BS Mathematics Chairperson, Dr. Nancy L. Mati, the Numerates of the College of Science assisted an event entitled "A Colloquium of Prevailing Mathematics Research'' with the guest speaker John Sebastian H. Simon, PhD, that was attended by BS Mathematics students. The guest speaker discussed one of the millennium mathematics problems – the Navier-Stokes Equations, and models of the movement of all fluids and other dynamical systems.
Pi Day Celebration. On March 14, 2023, the Numerates of the College of Science prepared a simple activity for the celebration of Pi Day with the participation of BS Mathematics students. This activity was conducted to have some fun, help them improve their memorization skills, and provide an opportunity for B.S. Mathematics students to recite some of the infinite digits of Pi.
First Charter Anniversary of Tarlac State University. On April 11, 2023, the BS Mathematics students supported the celebration of the First Charter Anniversary of Tarlac State University.
BS Mathematics Students’ Final Defense. On May 13, 2023 (Saturday), the 4th year students presented their thesis for their Final Defense via MS Teams with the guest panelist, Eduard C. Taganap, Ph.D. Mathematics, from the Department of Mathematics and Physics at Central Luzon State University.
Freshmen Enrollment. On June 20 to 21, 2023, the faculty-representatives of each department conducted students’ admission held at the Computer Laboratory Room of the College of Science building.
